A Letter From Our
Executive Director

Hello Friends,

I am excited and honored to work alongside Troy Styles to bring Karma Grocery to life in Greenville. I moved to the upstate in 2012 with my husband and two boys. People thought we were crazy when we packed up and left the Jersey Shore without decent job prospects, but we knew we had the heart and hustle to succeed once we arrived. We had to. And we never looked back.

Since then, I have had the pleasure of working alongside a number of our incredibly talented local chefs, growers, planners, and makers. These connections are constantly driving me to do more to forge connections between the consumers and creators, while being able to give back to the community.

I have an extensive background in hospitality and have worked in nearly every department from hostess to director of sales and events (and everything in between—dishwashing included). I also studied interior design, so I LOVE to bring a little of my personal style and creativity to every job I take on.

When I accepted my first catering sales job, I honestly didn’t have a lot of experience in that field, but it turned out to be an amazing opportunity to get to know the area and all the ups and downs of the sales world.

My team was always extremely supportive, however, my position was considered “remote,” so I was forced out of my comfort zone on a daily basis to figure out what worked (and what definitely didn’t!).

Through that position, I ended up catering events for 5-5000 people from office lunches to weddings, while creating lifelong friendships and earning the trust of clients from all over the Upstate.

Most recently, I was an event planner at a large family entertainment center here in town. Every single day there was a learning experience, since we were the flagship location, and I was happy to just take it all in.

The most rewarding events for me were always community outreach activities. Scheduling staff, creating a layout for the set up and timeline of events, (waking up at 5AM, surviving on coffee, a quick snack here and there, and tons of laughter), and executing a beautiful set up to represent my brand. . . these are the things that really drive me! You may have seen me slinging samples at the Greenville Zoo’s Sippin’ Safari or Zoom Through the Zoo, or maybe at the Reedy River Duck Derby.

I’ve also set up before sunrise at several Greenville Track Club events. I’ve served guests at Furman University for Greek life events and athletic programs. And I can’t forget days of greeting brides-to-be at Wedding Festivals! I seem to thrive in the chaos of busy days, where I can sit back later and reflect on the accomplishments.

That’s how I ended up here! This is a completely new concept and I’m jumping in with both feet ready to serve y’all.

Let’s do this, Greenville!

–Cheers,

Meghan
